  2. Are there practical considerations for UK GPs due to the new GMS contracts from the NHS?
  3. Do you provide a turnkey implementation and training service to surgeries?
  4. How can I get my surgery or hospital to participate in the Azam Disabilities Initiative (ADI) without it taking much of our time and resource?
  5. I work with comatose patients, how can Azam help my patients?
  6. Azam can be used free of charge on hospital children's wards, what are the benefits?
  7. What are the benefits in implementing Azam throughout a general hospital and how much will it cost?
Question
I am a doctor, how can Azam help me?
Answer
  1. You can record consultations with patients to supplement your hand written notes.
  2. You can record staff meetings without taking notes.
  3. Colleagues, or locum doctors, can record consultations they have with your patients which you may later review.
  4. Azam allows the creation of Templates which empowers medical staff to preload the main headings of regular consultations. When reaching the part of a discussion where a certain subject is covered or a specific question answered, all the doctor has to do is click on one button and the subject matter will be automatically indexed for future retrieval. (Azam will create the equivalent of a CD music track!).
  5. Azam allows the download of external voice clips stored in tape recorders.
  6. Nursing or reception staff can record patient requests by phone (or in consultation) allowing Azam to store the actual voice clips which can be emailed in whole or in part to a doctor or specialist.
  7. Secretaries can transcribe medical notes or letters on behalf of doctors.
  8. Most importantly Azam can store and manage any recording for you. By using a few typed keywords (which can be preloaded or entered during a consultation), you will be able to search for historic consultations and easily retrieve them at a later date.

There are many general uses of Azam which apply to doctors that are not covered here. They can be reviewed throughout this website or via the online Help screens. The latter can be seen by downloading Azam free of charge for 30 days.

Question
Are there practical considerations for UK GPs due to the new GMS contracts from the NHS?
Answer

The recent introduction of GMS contracts has provided an opportunity and challenge to GP practices, some of which can be assisted by the introduction of the Azam product to their standard practices and protocols.

  1. Payments to GPs under the Quality Framework will be based, in part, on patient experience reviewed through surveys and length of consultations. Using Azam to record the consultation, whether in the clinic or during a house-call, provides both an audit record and a method of reviewing and appraising the GPs performance within the practice.
  2. A GPs efficiency may be increased by dictating patient notes for subsequent transcription using either a hand held dictating device or a copy of Azam. Only Azam provides the means for safe storage and rapid retrieval of the dictated notes - try searching through a years worth of dictated audio tapes. But Azam can also be used in combination with these hand held devices by loading previously recorded dictation into Azam for long term storage and retrieval or distribution among colleagues.
  3. The new provisions for out-of-hours service involving the Primary Care Trust, Strategic Health Authorities, the GPs practice and perhaps an accredited provider will require comprehensive planning and monitoring to maintain and deliver improved levels of patient care. A key and financially efficient product in this respect is Azam which provides for auditing, via the audio recordings, of the service provided and efficient distribution of information regarding a patients care back to the patients GP. These recordings can be automatically indexed during the phone call for 'keywords' and stored or emailed in whole or in part to the main GP responsible for day to day care.

There is now separate IT funding available to GPs enabling new technology, such as Azam, to be introduced to practices without compromising other budgets.

Question
How can I get my surgery or hospital to participate in the Azam Disabilities Initiative (ADI) without it taking much of our time and resource?
Answer

We can empower any doctor to give away free download copies of Azam to patients with disabilities. All the doctor has to do, is give the patient a sheet of paper.

See the notes below about the Azam Disabilities Initiative (ADI).

Question
I work with comatose patients, how can Azam help my patients?
Answer

The company is working on technology to enable the stimulus of comatose patients. At the simplest level, available today, this is in the form of harvesting voice clips from friends, family and celebrities wherever they live in the world and producing a customized recording that can be played for hours on end. At the advanced level, still being researched, we are working on using certain morphing techniques to create unusual audio stimulation for the patient.

Medical staff are invited to read the coma section, should they wish to learn more, or take part in this research project.

Question
What are the benefits in implementing Azam throughout a general hospital and how much will it cost?
Answer
The benefits are so numerous we cannot possibly list them here. Instead, please take a tour around this website. Many benefits that apply to doctors as described in question 1 above will be compounded in a large hospital environment. Please review the many links on this website and screenshots, as many working practices within a hospital are typically found in our description of Azam use to large organizations and small businesses. A typical large hospital can have Azam implemented on all its PCs for as little as 5000 pounds. We even allow a number of home use licenses for key staff who need to be Azam enabled 24 hours a day. We suggest a 30 day no cost Azam evaluation across a test sample of 50 users: doctors, nurses, and senior management. To arrange this, please email sales@azamit.com.

The Azam Disabilities Initiative

Under the Azam Disabilities Initiative (ADI) Azam International Technologies Limited have empowered Charities and local authorities to give FREE Azam software to anyone in the UK who suffers from any disability. As of December 1st 2003 this will be extended to all UK GP practices. It will be very easy to implement. All a doctor has to do is give a free key code to a patient and this will allow the free copy of Azam to be downloaded by the patient. Not only will this enable people who have difficulty typing to be able to send emails by voice, but permit messages to be sent to doctors for review thus eliminating some on site visits.

The company is also working on technology to enable the stimulus of comatose patients.
